3 tips to inspect the lifting chain

Why should we inspect the chain?

Lifting chain is always used in the lifting field, so safety is very important. All the lifting chain should be manufactured alloy steel over G80 or G100. If the lifting chain is bad quality, it will endanger to people life.

Now we will introduce how should we to inspect the chain. There are three tips.

Tips 1.
Regular inspections are imperative.  The chain surface must have no gouges, cracks, wear, nicks transforming, rust. Otherwise, the chains are unqualified. Check the legibility of the identification tag to make sure the manufacturer’s name, serial number, working load limit, grade, size etc information.

Tips 2.
Check the welded point. The welded point must very smooth, no burry, no scratch. That is the qualified chain. Most importantly, every link must be inspected.  You also need to pay attention to any corroded, cracked or stretched links, areas of excessive wear, any degradation or deformation of the links or components, this includes cracks in the links or welded areas.

Tips 3.
Measure the sizes, length and do the breaking load test. The standard parameters you can check them from the below table.

Choose a good quality chain is very important. Pre-production test, random check, before shipment test all are necessary.
